During my morning scripture study today, Henry came and sat across from me. He asked me to pass him the Book of Mormon so he could read it. He started turning pages and then asked, "Where's the Henry David Throw part?" A little confused, I asked him what he meant. He repeated, "Where's the part about Henry David Throw?"
Did I correct him and show him that Thoreau's words are found in the book Walden? Yes.
Do I regret that my son instinctively thought Henry David Thoreau was scriptural? Not at all.
And here is your Thoreau scripture of the day, very appropriate for September 1st, spoken to me over the phone by my dad last night:
Live in each season as it passes;
breathe the air,
drink the drink,
taste the fruit,
and resign yourself to the influences of each.
Love it!

Thanks for sharing that--its exactly what I needed to hear :)
I can't believe that your child already knows about Thoreau!! I didn't learn about him until High School!
My new thought for this day. Already posted in my special kitchen spot. Thanks!
Jenn I haven't been on your blog in a while! I'm so glad you got some free food, Love the Henry/Ellis lookalikes, congrats on a crawler, I saw your article in the paper and was very proud!!! and I"m excited to try some of your favorite music/food/children's bookand CD combos. Also sorry about going private on my blog :( I"m kind of being guilted into it by some paranoid family members.... I've thought about doing it anyway though. Hope it doesn't deter you too much :) Enjoy the beautiful fall!
I love this thought...thanks for sharing. This belongs cross-stitched on a pillow or framed on the wall...or for now, on a sticky note on the fridge. :)
