Here's an update to our family Christmas music policy:
No member of the Iverson family shall sing Christmas music or play Christmas albums until the day after Thanksgiving. Playing Christmas music on the piano is acceptable after Halloween, but NO SINGING ALONG! The space between Halloween and Thanksgiving is STRICTLY reserved for practicing accompaniments. The new Christmas album of the year may be played after the Nov. 14th wedding anniversary (traditional time to by the new album of the year), but no other albums until Thanksgiving!
Amendment: If it snows before Halloween, disregard the above policy. Do whatever is necessary to maintain a bright outlook about the early appearance of winter!
We take our family policies pretty seriously around here.

You do take your family policies pretty seriously Jenn. That is quite the policy. We have the same rule about no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving but that is all there is to it. I hope you have that written down somewhere because it contains alot more than just no Christmas music. I love the amendment though, if there is snow happening before Halloween then that's just out right depressing.
Gotta love this October freeze right? So I would love to hear what you have used for your yearly Christmas albums
haha love the specific and precise policies that were established for family unity. AAhhh..snow on Halloween, so many memories of North Dakota that it started to seem normal to have snow. I hope you enjoyed throwing that lovely policy out the window to keep the spirit of being happy about snow!
We had our first snow today Griff, and I think it may be my favorite day of the year. Everyone here has been getting antsy for snow and it feels like it FINALLY came. I LOVE WINTER!! Sometimes I forget because of the depression and all, but on the first snow of the year it's really easy to remember. It makes me want to stay home and bake and make candy and string together beads to make ornaments for the tree. You Americans cut yourselves short on the enjoyment of Christmas season. Everyone in the rest of North America knows the Holiday season starts officially the first day after Halloween. And yes, I saw egg nog in the store on Friday! Soon it will be in my fridge. And belly.
Hey, I'm SURE you know about this already - but do you have Sufjan Stevens' Christmas album? Because it is the best Christmas album in the WORLD. I can't remember if you own it or not - but if you don't, you should.
Sufjan Stevens' Christmas album is the only one I'll listen to outside of Thanksgiving-New Years. I was shocked when I heard about the snow you all got. It seems like we just got through with one of the most oppressive summers I can ever remember--I can't imagine snow right now!
Glad you are enjoying a little Christmas spirit early. We got hit by the storm too and were out of power from Saturday afternoon until sometime in the early morning Tuesday hours. We were cold and dirty! Thank heavens for a fireplace.
