Colors

(Jenn) I think it's funny how parents seem to embrace their child's "wrong" way of saying certain words. It's almost tragic when they start saying the word right, because it was so cute when they said it wrong! That's why my parents still call me "Dutchie" (Tanner's name for me) and use phrases like "So backwards!" and words like "Moosh!" (Brady's word for "move out of my way"). While we were in Utah, Ben's mom noticed that Henry started saying "orange" instead of "orngee," and we all lamented the loss of one of his funniest words. Well, I caught him starting to say "orngee" again and just had to catch it on camera before we lost it again. And if you want to hear it, you have to watch him recite the names of the rest of the colors in the Crayola box (which he is getting right about 95% of the time, up from 30% a few months ago)!

I can't believe how well he speaks! You know that his speech is way more advanced than most kids his age right? Doesn't he not turn 2 until December? So cute (and impressive).

Jenn I love your blog! It's so fun to hear about all of the fun things you guys are doing. Henry reminds me so much of you, he looks just like a Griffin.

First, very impressive that he knows his colors. What do you feed that kid? I completely understand about what kids say that you wish would stay. Carter referred to Mason as Me-Mase for the longest time. He also has pantented the phrase,"You scared me out of my crap." He heard one of his friends repeat a phrase similiar, but apparently needed his own twist. :)
Keep Henry going, he has an amazing vocabulary!!!

I totally know what you mean about the funny words things. It makes me sad when she learns to say things right too!

So, they usually start teaching colors in preschool around age 3, and still work on them up through kindergarten. He speaks incredibly clearly and well for his age, and knows so much! You are great parents to be teaching him so much so young!! Does he know his alphabet yet? That's such a fun one to teach them too! Thanks for sharing the cute video.
