Sew Frustrating

6:30 am: the average wake-up time of Henry and Ellis three weeks ago.  Probably has something to do with the early sunrise, right?

$20: the amount of money I spent buying buying blackout fabric to attach to the back of the curtains in their bedroom.  Yes, I know I was probably ripped off.  I was desperate and know nothing about buying fabric.

2 weeks: the amount of time the ironing board and sewing materials sat out in the dining room waiting for me to break down and get them done.

3 hours: the amount of time I spent cutting fabric, ironing on the Stitch Witchery (I am afraid of the sewing machine), and sewing on the blackout fabric by hand.

9: Ugliness rating of the new curtains (on a scale of 1-10).  This is why you get a picture of the super hero capes I "made" out of the scraps instead of a picture of the finished product.

6:15am: the new average wake-up time of Henry and Ellis.

Aaarrrrgghh.  And we're not even trying to be lazy and sleep in every morning.  All we're asking for is an hour in the morning to read scriptures and exercise before the sweet little monsters wake up!  And I really don't think it's possible for me to wake up any earlier than 6:00 right now.  Come on, boys!  Seven is the magic number.  YOU CAN DO IT.  PLEEEEEEEAAAAASE.

Do you know I get mad when no one else comments on your blog, cause I like to read em?

I don't know about your curtains being ugly, but the capes are awesome. I'm sure your curtains look much better than my husbands black and red Cincinatti throw we put over Savannah's window. (Black, red, and an ugly paw print don't go so well in a pink, yellow, and purple room w/ flowers!) Whatever helps, right?! (hopefully yours will help in the long run)

try putting them to be an hour later at night. That has worked for me in the past. You shouldn't be scared of a sewing machine, if you ever need help or advice just drop me a line, sewing is my passion.

Arg - how frustrating!! After 3 wks. of Olivia waking up as soon as the sun peeked over the mountain at my Mom's I was SO READY to make it back to her bedroom at home with big dark brown curtains...we'll see how she adjusts!

Jenn! I saw the link to your blog on the last email you sent me-Thanks! SO we are dealing with the same thing in our home right now. I have tried waking at 5 to get going on my things to do, and 15-20 minutes later...ahh, it drives me crazy, and makes for too long of a day! We LOVE 7 o'clock wake up too in our house! Good luck, and know that someone else is up at the same time as you!

yikes! If my kids even do that once I go balistic, good luck.

Oh...I feel your pain! Do you have a strong noise machine? Play around with their bed time too...20 minutes to 30 minutes earlier or later....try both...some kids sleep longer if you try earlier and some if you try later. I have also tried to give them a glass of milk right before bed...well with Ellis you probably already nurse him...anyway I hope it gets better!
