Henry's Snowy Day

(Jenn) Henry has been DYING for a day like today! Every time we get even a few snow flurries, he insists on playing in the snow. He has read lots of books about others playing in the snow (esp. Curious George and Biscuit the dog) and has developed some serious fantasies about what it must be like! Still, the poor kid had no idea what "real" snow was all about -- we have had such a mild winter. Just last week, he was stomping on a piece of brownish ice at the Statue of Liberty and exclaimed, "Look! I'm playing in the snow!"

So hooray for today! It snowed all last night and is still going strong now at 11:30am, and it was perfect snow for sledding. As soon as we got back from dropping off Ben at the train station, we got bundled up and headed to the park. We used the snow tube Henry got for Christmas on some medium-sized hills. Henry liked it, but I think he was a little scared. I insisted on about 8 runs down the hill throughout the morning, but Henry mostly wanted to walk around playing in the snow.

So we did a lot of stomping around, making snow angels, and throwing snow around. Henry felt it was important to crawl in the snow so I could say "Funny puppy! That's the way!" just like his Biscuit book. As soon as I taught him that you can eat a little bit of snow, it was all over. That was all he wanted to do for the rest of the morning. I think snow may have surpassed water and ice as his favorite foods.

While we're on the snow topic, I must post this clip of Henry watching the "Sacred Grove Show." He always gets a kick out of watching videos of himself, probably more than is healthy. He absolutely loves this one my Dad took in the Sacred Grove. Grandpa Dave's point-and-shoot has a few pretty good special effects, like skipping. It did turn out to be pretty funny. Watching Henry watch it is probably even funnier!

How fun to see your little bro again! Looks like they had a great trip! By the way, you've been tagged, see my blog for details. But you've probably done it before, so no pressure to do it again!

Ada is obsessed with eating snow. She'd eat black snow if we let her. She also loves water and ice. What is up with that?

Oh, I must confess I'm a little jealous. Here in central Arizona, there has been NO snow for little Olivia to play in. We may just have to take a weekend trip up to Flagstaff so she gets the feel of the stuff! Henry is as adorable as ever.
