(Jenn) I have to post this before Ben gets home so he doesn't stop me! He has been a little shy about his grad school applications and hasn't really shared many specifics with anyone. So I guess it's up to me to share the news! Today he got a phone call saying he was accepted at Harvard! I get the feeling that Harvard is his #1 choice, although I'm sure he'll weigh his options before deciding for certain. He will definitely be getting a lot of pressure from me, of course. Henry and I went with Ben up to Boston for his interview a few weeks ago, and we both loved it so much (of course, I have always loved it there -- but the trip was a very vivid reminder for me). Anyway, so far Ben has offers from Northwestern University (in Chicago) and Duke (in Durham, North Carolina). He has yet to hear back from 3 other schools that he's still considering (Wharton at UPenn, University of Chigago, and MIT). I'm sure we'll keep you posted as we make this decision over the next month or so. Meanwhile, you can cast your votes!
For those who don't know the details, Ben is applying to earn a PhD in Finance. The schooling will take 4-5 years and will begin this fall (bring on the poverty -- I'm ready!). Yes, we are aware that our baby is due the very week Ben is supposed to be starting school. No, that wasn't part of the plan. :)

Jenn -
Congratulations to Ben! Those are some pretty amazing offers. I can see why Henry is such a little genius - look at his parents. You may be jealous of the home ownership thing, but I am jealous of the experiences that you have by living back East, outside of Utah! :)
Hooray for Ben! Boston is one of my favorite cities too.

Jenn,
I knew it, Ben is just one of those greats! I am so thrilled he has some great options, but there is just something about Harvard that sounds nice. Plus I hear you loved Boston so much the first time around. Good luck with the decisons.
That is great news Ben and Jenn! Congrats to Ben for all his hard work and Jen's hard work at supporting him!!
My vote is certainly Boston--because we loved our visit there!! I have always loved Boston and the surrounding area...so go for it! :)
Congrats on the baby and the acceptances!
Oh, come on! Where are all the votes for Kellogg? That's definitely our first choice for you, but I'm sure you'll be happy wherever you go. :)
Congrats on the Harvard acceptance! We're headed to Penn State in the August, which is definitely within driving distance from Boston. We are so happy for you guys and all your upcoming changes!
WOW!!! Keep us in your prayers. Mike is interviewing there this Friday. I would love to go to school together!!!!
Congrats guys! That is awesome. So cool that you have several options to choose from. You'll be great wherever you end up. Keep us posted!
Okay so this mom is just too full of pride for what Ben has pulled off with acceptances to Harvard, Kellogg and Duke to be very quiet! How many people get to CHOOSE among such highly ranked PhD programs and schools?!! That's our boy!!! We're thrilled for you and so excited to learn where you'll be living the next 5 years. And after that, Utah here we come, right?)! Mom Iverson
Holy Cow! That is so awesome. Congratulations! He must be one smart cookie. I am so excited for you new adventure. Things will work out with the baby and everything else. Good Luck!
Ben-
I know deep down inside you would want to go to one of the most dominating Men's college basketball programs of all time-Duke. Lets face it, who does work in grad school? It's all about what school will give you the best options of extra-curricular activities...so duke should be the first choice. The second choice should be Northwestern because of the close proximity of Chicago to Des Moines-it's only 5 hours away...plus Jacob will be close by...And who wouldn't want to live in a town that built the first ever ferris wheel and introduced to the world cracker jacks and shredded wheat? What does Harvard have that would override those compelling reasons for the other two schools? Go with your heart Ben!! Hahaha Ok I can think of lots of reasons to choose Harvard over just about any school. Good luck with the decision and hopefully if I ever have money you can teach me how to invest it...I'll give you a free colonoscopy in 25 years for your service! haha
Sean
I keep forgetting to tell you how wonderful that is. Congratulations on all of your acceptances and best of luck with whichever you choose.
